OCTOBER 10, 2011
Bill Koons, of Omaha, Nebraska, traveled to the state
of Kansas from October 6-8 for a trio of Dirt Late Model
special events to close out his 2011 campaign. On Thursday
and Friday, the Lucas Oil MLRA Series sanctioned the 'Capital
City Clash' at the Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. In
the $2,500 to win weekend opener on Thursday, Bill ran
seventh in his heat race prior to posting a fourteenth
place effort in the A-Main. On Friday night at Heartland
Park, Bill notched a sixth place heat race finish and
a twelfth place performance in the $3,500 to win feature
event.
The tripleheader weekend and the 2011 season wrapped
up for the #29 team on Saturday at the Caney Valley Speedway
in Caney, Kansas. "Dollar Bill" wound up fifteenth
in the final rundown of the $1,500 to win 'Topless 40'
at CVS. Full results from all three races can be viewed

The Lucas Oil MLRA Series and MARS DIRTcar Series co-sanctioned
the one-day show, which was headlined by a $3,000 to win
feature event. Bill Koons ran third in heat race action
at Springfield and later posted a solid eleventh place
effort in the 40-lap main event. His son, Billy Koons,

SEPTEMBER 26,
2011
After spending the past two months away from the racetrack,
Bill Koons and his #29 team returned to Dirt Late Model
competition over the September 23-24 weekend at the I-80
Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. The annual running of
the 'Cornhusker Classic' was held over the weekend and
a stout field of competitors were on hand for the Lucas
Oil MLRA and DART Corn Belt Clash co-sanctioned races.
On Friday night, Bill ran fifth in his heat race and ninth
in his B-Main, which unfortunately kept him out of the
$2,000 to win feature event. In Saturday's finale, Bill
finished fourth in his heat race, fifth in his B-Main,
and twentieth in the $3,000 to win, 35-lap main event.
Full results from the two-day 'Cornhusker Classic' can
