OCTOBER 19, 2009
Coffeyville,
Kansas native Al Purkey clinched his sixth O'Reilly MLRA
Series Championship on Sunday night, October 18 at the
Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri! Heading into last
night, Al held a twelve point lead over John Anderson
in the series point standings. After winning his heat
race and starting the $3,000 to win main event from the
pole position, Al wound up a strong runner-up behind winner
John Anderson. While Anderson may have won the battle
at Nevada, Al was not to be denied his sixth MLRA Championship!
Bill Koons was also in action at Nevada in the MLRA finale.
After crossing underneath the checkers second in heat
race action, Bill was deemed light at the scales following
the preliminary event. Unfortunately, he was not able
to rebound from the heat race disqualification and missed
out on the $3,000 to win A-Main. You can view complete
results from Nevada by visiting www.mlraracing.com.
